How long has Cheney Care Community been in existence?
The Cheney Care Center Association was established in June of 1976 to provide for the care of elderly and infirm in the Cheney and surrounding areas. The skilled care facility, Cheney Care Center, opened its doors in September of 1979. The Cheney Home Care began providing care in the community in 1995 and in July of 1999, we opened the Cheney Assisted Living. Most recently in July 2005, we opened our senior housing complex, Sessions Village. We also provide Meals on Wheels and a Senior Nutrition program to the elderly on the West Plains.

How many employees does Cheney Care Community have?
Cheney Care Center employs approximately 125 employees. Each employee is carefully selected and carefully screened to make certain we maintain the highest standards of caring.

Why does the cost of Cheney Care seem lower than some other health care communities?
We are a not-for-profit and, as such as national studies have shown, we are not motivated by profit. We try to package our services on an all inclusive rate basis, while other facilities charge for every item of service you receive. Therefore, we have less hidden charges.

Can I move in immediately?
Our waiting list period varies depending on the type of service or unit that you desire. Please speak with a representative of Cheney Care Community for a more accurate time frame.

Are pets allowed?
At this time, we only allow pets in the Sessions Village Apartments. All pets must be kept on a leash when in common areas. The Cheney Care Center does participate in the Eden Alternative, which brings in animals to assist in improving the quality of life for the residents. Pets are allowed to visit after the owner has provided us with veterinarian records.

What type of transportation is there?
We are located on a Spokane Transit Authority Bus Route and residents are able to also use the Special Mobility Services transit vans. We do provide transportation to medical appointments for residents for the Cheney Care Center and the Cheney Assisted Living at this time.

Do you have a common area that we could reserve to have a family party or get together?
Yes, Cheney Care Center, Cheney Assisted Living, and Sessions Village all have areas that are available for resident events. In addition, guests are always welcome in our dining room for any meal, special occasion, or holiday for a minimal charge.

Absolutely. Cheney Care Center has many years of experience in the operation of health care and housing. Cheney Care Community's board of directors, management team, and staff adhere to sound fiscal practices.
